After renewing his contract with Fiorentina, Martin Jorgensen is looking to establish his role in the Viola dressing room even further.
Despite not being a regular, the Dane is regarded as a fundamental character at the Stadio Artemio Franchi for his experience and invaluable professionalism.
“I believe that I can be important for my teammates both on and off the pitch,” claimed the 34-year-old player.
“If the young ones have got something to ask then they can come to me, considering that I have been in the game for a long time.”
Last year Jorgensen suffered from a mystery virus which kept him out for a long time, and could have ended his career, but he managed to recover and also put pen to paper on a new contract.
“It was a long, tough time that one. I had never been out for three months. Many thought I had leukaemia. For about a month not even the doctors knew what I had and I wanted to know what was going on.
“Now I can only laugh about it. Pantaleo Corvino was just waiting to renew my contract so it wasn’t only thanks to my goal to Lecce that I am still here,” he concluded.
