Cesare Prandelli assures Fiorentina aren’t tired from their UEFA exploits, though he fears Sampdoria’s “spirit” in Sunday’s showdown.
Giampaolo Pazzini is suspended for the battle for a Champions League place, but other than that the Coach does not plan on rotating the squad.
“Before the last training session everyone gave the all-clear to play. I complimented Tomas Ujfalusi, as he sent an important signal to the side.”
Ujfalusi was struggling with an injury, but grit his teeth to put in a fine performance in Thursday’s 0-0 draw away to Rangers.
“At this time of the season it is more important to act as a group than as individuals. He gave a good example that will be needed ahead of tomorrow’s game. We are playing in front of our fans and they too will give their contribution.”
It is a crucial encounter, as Sampdoria and Milan are only four points adrift of that final Champions League spot with four rounds to go.
“I fear Sampdoria’s enthusiasm and organisation. Then of course Antonio Cassano can be decisive and thread through some inspirational passes. It’ll be tough, but Fiorentina are very motivated and we always seek results through entertaining play.”
Christian Vieri – who signed for Sampdoria two summers ago only to leave without taking part in a single training session – is set to replace Pazzini in the trident with Mario Alberto Santana and Adrian Mutu.
