Exclusive: Mutu’s Christian praise
Fiorentina star Adrian Mutu gives Football Italia an exclusive insight into a superb start to the season and his relationship with Christian Vieri.
Mutu has been a central figure in the Gigliati’s rise to become Champions League challengers.
The Romanian marksman is on superb form with six goals to his name already this term and he has set his sights high.
“We should finish in fourth place at least,” he assured Football Italia. “We should get into the Champions League and hopefully play in the UEFA Cup Final.
“Our style of play, the atmosphere and this city all make that possible.”
There have been whispers that Mutu has a strained relationship with strike partner Vieri, but the ex-Verona man insists that that isn’t the case.
“We known each other since my first day at Inter,” Mutu explained. “I hadn’t celebrated my 20th birthday yet and here was the best striker in the world offering to buy me dinner.
“From then on, and not just for that gracious invitation, I have had total respect for him.
