Romanian striker Adrian Mutu was forced to sit out the big match with Inter last night, as his knee problems keep troubling him and the Italian press alleges that he could require surgery.

He picked up an elbow injury while on international duty last August and just when things were looking up, the Viola medical staff announced that he was also nursing a rather serious knee problem earlier this month.

However, it was not deemed serious enough to require a medical operation until last night.

The 29-year-old striker missed out on the Nerazzurri's visit as the knee had swollen up again and the Romanian was allegedly furious, as he was eager to play against his former side and particularly face José Mourinho, with whom he had a troubled relationship at Chelsea.

The Romania team doctors are allegedly keen to operate on his meniscus issue, but the Gigliati replied a few weeks ago that the player could recuperate by simply being rested for a few matches.

A diplomatic row almost broke out, but now the Florentines are seriously afraid that surgery would be the best option for the forward.

The Giornale della Toscana reports that the Viola medical staff will further examine the situation over the next few days and Mutu could go under the knife before Christmas.

Either way, coach Cesare Prandelli will have major selection headaches ahead of next weekend's trip to Siena, as Alberto Gilardino is still unavailable, due to the 2-game ban he received following the controversial hand goal scored against Palermo.

前尤文和国际的神射手本赛季一直受到伤病困扰，在8月份的国家队比赛中他的肘部受伤，情况刚刚开始变好的时候，佛罗伦萨的队医本月初又发现他的膝盖有严重的伤情。

但是直到昨晚这都没有严重到使他不得不接受手术。

由于膝部再次肿胀，穆图不得不错过了来访的蓝黑军团，这让他十分不爽，因为这让他错过了对阵老东家特别是在切尔西时结怨的穆里尼奥。

罗马尼亚队医早前认为穆图需要接受半月板手术，但紫百合认为他只需简单的休息几场比赛就能回复。

这几乎引发了一场外交冲突，而现在佛罗伦萨方面真的开始担心他真的需要接受手术。

托斯卡纳当地报纸报道，佛罗伦萨医官将进一步检查穆图的情况，而他有可能在圣诞节前接受手术。（那也太久了吧  搞啥啊）

同时，教练普兰德利也要为周末对锡耶纳的比赛阵容头疼了，因为吉拉对巴勒莫手球停赛两场。（穆图下一场也上不了啊。。。）
