Reports in Italy claimed that the Etnei hit-man was a target for La Viola given their project to bolster their squad. Spinesi has been linked with several clubs around the peninsula but he insists that the Viola have not called him.
"I am really well here in Catania," Spinesi told Radio Blu.
"I really hope that I can stay here because I am trying to recover from the recent injury that I sustained.
"I have not heard from anyone yet and there has not been any contact from Fiorentina.
"Vargas? He is a great player with extraordinary qualities. He can play anywhere on the left and he is excellent in terms of his physical prowess."
The Viola are on the verge of signing Alberto Gilardino from Milan and thus the former Parma man's arrival in Florence would all but close the door on Spinesi.
